With thirty-seven exhibitors and works from over 150 contemporary African artists, this year’s edition of the 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair promises to be the biggest yet. Designed by RA Projects, each wing of the fair will showcase a variety of sculptural artwork.

Curated by Koyo Kouoh, director of the Raw Material Company, the fair will feature talks with leading artists, film screenings, and panel discussions. This year’s 1:54 will include special projects with contributions from the Basma Al Sulaiman Museum of Contemporary Art (BASMOCA), Fondation Zinsou, Hassan Hajjaj, and Qubeka Bead Studio.

Exhibitors hail from all corners of the globe — Kenya, Tunisia, France, Sweden, Germany, the UK, and Spain, among other countries. Exhibitors such as Afronova, Art TwentyOne, Galerie Cécile Fakhoury, and ARTLab Africa will represent the works of such creative artists as Miriam Syowia Kyambi and Yo-Yo Gonthier, to name a few. With the support of numerous high-profile individuals and organizations, the fair aims to increase the accessibility and visibility of African contemporary artwork worldwide. The third edition will be held from October 15th to 18th at Somerset House, London.
