We are excited to invite you to the 14th annual African Economic Forum (AEF) at Columbia University. We look forward to having you join us and our distinguished speakers while we explore this year’s theme— Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers: Harnessing the Power of an Open Africa.
The 2017 theme touches on many issues including development, investment, and technology. Our goal for this year’s conference is to highlight the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as African countries continue to present themselves as “open for business.” This year’s forum will provide a platform to evaluate the ways in which collaboration in an era of technological transformation, integration, and innovation can bridge the development gap and fuel growth in Africa.
We will be welcoming keynotes Amina J. Mohammed, Asiwaju Bola A. Tinubu, and Hakeem Belo-Osagie as well as panelists across a range of fields to speak on topics such as Women in Business, Media, Fashion & Arts, Young African MBA’s Innovative African Entrepreneurship, African Narratives, Regional Integration, the Shifting Face of Finance in Africa After the Commodities Crash, and Strengthening Africa’s Legal Frameworks.
The Conference will also feature a Career Fair and Admissions Outreach, as well as the smash hit Africaine Yacht Party 2017 in the evening following the conference. By bringing together a broad range of panelists and insightful keynote speakers, AEF will continue to be a platform for meaningful engagement. We hope to stimulate fresh approaches to tackling ongoing and emerging challenges faced by a modernizing Africa and we look forward to welcoming you to Columbia University’s campus on April 1st.
