On December 2nd, 2017, Ayiba Magazine celebrated its five year anniversary. The evening began with a cocktail hour, where we served Nigerian and Jamaican treats: oxtail patties, cauliflower and pumpkin patties, chicken suya, jerk chicken, plantain chips, and some choco milo treats – just for the nostalgia. There was also a variety of creative cocktails including Nigeria’s own Chapman.
The event space had something fun happening in every corner. The hit of the night was definitely the Vlisco head wrap corner. Each guest received a free Ankara headpiece adorned by My Tignon and then went in our selfie booth to capture the look.
Next, we had a mini game night where guests answered a series of questions to win prizes sponsored by Chef Pierre Thiam, Ayiba Jewelry, Vlisco, and Ashton Adam Ltd (Flawless Hair Canada, Taliah Waajid, Uncle Jimmy’s.)
Special guests included Toronto’s own Black Foodie, who is featured in our December Issue. And finally, we launched our jewelry collection!
As our global community grows, we plan on taking our editorial experience offline with events in our most popular cities. We started in Toronto, but if you want to attend an event like this in your city comment below OR email us to collaborate.
