The 15th annual African Economic Forum (AEF) at Columbia University took place on April 7th, 2018. This year’s theme touched on many timely issues including technology, energy, and the continent’s fast-growing youth population. Ayiba Magazine was there to cover the event as a media partner.

Here’s a short recap of the events of the day:

Keynotes included Ismail Ahmed of World Remit, Professor Kingsley Moghalu (who took the occasion to announce his bid for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria), and Yinka Adegoke of QUARTZ Africa, as well as panelists across a range of fields to speak on topics such as Africa in the Arts, Technology & Entrepreneurship, Investment in Africa, Youth Unemployment, Legal, and Energy.

Our founder and editor-in-chief, Eyitemi Popo was on a panel called Art, Entertainment and the African Diaspora with Super Model Duckie Thot, Stylist Ugo Mozie, Dee Poku of WIE Network and acclaimed playwright Jocelyn Bioh. We explored how contemporary African expressions of art have influenced the diaspora and the wider global perception of Africa and Africans.
