African Fashion Week Toronto is one of the most recognized Fashion Weeks in Canada. The program was established by the Fashion Ready Foundation in 2012 and has developed into an internationally-recognized event. AFWT continues to grow each season, creating a community of designers, models and industry professionals who shape this unique experience.
I attended African Fashion Week for 4 days last week. From Wednesday to Saturday, I met and mingled with Fashion students, designers, bloggers, stylists, makeup artists, models and photographers – not just from Toronto, but from New York, Boston, and London. It was great to see the kind of crowd #AFWT2017 drew. Here are some highlights from each day’s events for you.
Super model, Diandra Forrest attended the African Fashion week Launch Party. She and other guests watched the student designer competition featuring Bianka Meroe, Judy Gesare, Jessica Danquah, Monah Water, Sadi Johnson, Yewande Oduwole, Cannonball Diva.
On the second day of the fashion week, we saw several West African designers including Divine’s Design, Precious Threads by Abiola, AkonuaKouture, and House of Ruth.
The third day had a diverse range of designers from Wifey Collection, Kahonde Designs, SmailAkdim Couture, John Ablaza and menswear designer Fari Hara.
The fourth day of fashion week was the African Fashion Industry Awards and featured fashion favorites Ofuure and Adebayo Jones.
Everyday, the audience came correct.
